A new age of piracy!

the increasing frequency and success of pirate attacks

This useful diagram from the BBC

International trade is shaking in fear over a wave of recent pirate attacks on shipping lanes off the coast of Somalia. However these attacks are just a pin prick in the side of the corporates who are pushing products around the world in some 40,000 ships that are at sea today. I suspect that is perhaps the cost of insurance for the goods being transported rather than the risk to human life that the big boys are scared of.

It is clear however, that laws are going to change, pirates are going to get a hard time in the coming months, but what are they going to do about us?
